Preparing to Depart

You are about to embark on an exciting and rewarding experience. We hope you are getting excited about your upcoming time abroad, and undoubtedly you will have a lot of questions. To help you prepare for that experience, there are a few things you will need to do to stay enrolled at CSU while you are abroad, so follow the steps on the websites below to be sure you don’t miss a thing.

Complete Education Abroad Requirements

Log in to your myEdAbroad portal, select the program you have been accepted to, and complete the pre-departure requirements. If you have any questions, ask an Education Abroad Coordinator — we are happy to help!

Attend a Pre-Departure Orientation

Students must attend a site-specific orientation held each semester. The orientations will cover travel, health, safety, and culture abroad. Download and read the CSU Pre-Departure Guide to Education Abroad before the orientation — it will be referenced directly during the presentation.

Register for the CSU Education Abroad Course

For credit-bearing programs, overrides will only be granted upon completion of all CSU requirements for Education Abroad. Issuance of overrides will begin mid April for Summer, Fall, and Academic Year programs and mid November for Spring semester programs. Students must register themselves via RamWeb.

You must register for the CSU Education Abroad Course, SA 482, before first day of on-campus CSU classes of the semester you will be abroad.

Undergraduates:

The SA 482 ‘placeholder’ course is 12 credits during the fall and spring terms, and 6 credits during the summer term.
