Application Deadlines

Deadlines for Receipt of Completed Applications

March 1: For fall semester (August – December) or academic year (August – May)

October 1: For spring semester (January – May) or calendar year (January – December)

NOTE: Students who adhere to the deadline have a stronger chance of getting into their preferred classes. The exchange coordinator at your home institution should contact the CSU exchange coordinator to clarify the situation for applying after the above deadlines, preferably no later than mid-March or mid-October.

Application & Acceptance Process Timeline

Study at CSU for FALL Semester (August – December) or Academic Year (August – May)

February: Fall semester or the academic year nominations are received by the CSU exchange Coordinator by early to mid-February. Nominated applicants will receive a link via email with directions for completing the online application process.

March: CSU exchange program coordinators approve applications and supporting documents, issue acceptance email messages with instructions for housing and registration, and assist students with online enrollment in preferred classes.

April: Acceptance materials are emailed to partners and students. This information includes an electronically signed DS2019 (for J-1 student visa), that students will need to print and sign in order to apply for their J-1 student visa. Other materials and instructions are provided online and via email.

March-July: Exchange program coordinators correspond with students and partners regarding housing assignments, arrival information, travel plans, temporary housing upon arrival if needed, and enrollment in classes.

Early-August: Arrival information confirmed, including flight details and housing arrangements. Students attend international student orientation upon arrival.
